A Happy Collaboration

Attending the annual fund raiser for Pet Rescue at the Orienta Beach Club was like slipping into a warm ocean of puppy love.

Dozens of volunteers climbed on board, towed the line and rode the wave of success. I had my ticket, like hundreds of other pet lovers but felt gloomy on a dark and stormy day. The prospect was of a wash out turnout. Wrong. With the torrential rain flooding the parking lot, this loyal crew sailed up and hundreds attended, putting hands into deep pockets to make the silent auction float.

I am grateful, for the sake of the animals, to every mate involved. I participated by having some of my drawings on display and sold at the auction. This old salty dog’s heart is filled with puppy love for Pet Rescue.

This event was tacking, jibing, luffing and fluffing. A lot of bluffing went on, starboard, over the auction tables, as pirates fought to out bid one another for donated treasure. The wind was at the back of of the deck hands that made the highest bid and made off with the booty. The galley of the OBC came up with the grub to satisfy every hungry sailor. The hospitality unfurled as X marked the spot of the nicest location on the map in the history of this event. Grommet me up, I’m ready to hang again next year.

After this maiden voyage with Pet Rescue, this painter shall return.
